The End Of The Affair
It is 1946. Henry Miles, a civil servant, suspects that his wife Sarah is having an affair, and asks his writer friend Maurice Bendrix to contact a private investigator on his behalf. Maurice has a secret, however: he was once Sarah's lover, and is equally keen to find out whether she was unfaithful to him too... this economical and intense adaptation of Graham Greene's acclaimed novel unravels Maurice's story in a series of flashbacks on a stylized, fluid setting. Issues of Catholic faith, marital duplicity, sexuality and the supernatural are squarely dealt with, music and humour leavening the atmosphere and adding ironic comment.
